2011 Silver Beavers

Described as a modest, quiet man whose devotion to his family and church exemplify the values of the Scouting program Randy Crownover has been involved in Scouting in Mill Creek and Oneida District for more than 20 years. 

Mr. Crownover serves as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Committee Member for Boy Scout Troop 204 in Mill Creek. In addition to his work with the Troop, Randy is an active Vigil Member of the Monaken Lodge – Order of the Arrow, and serves as one of the kitchen cooks for the council Klondike Derby. 

Randy has also served Scouting as a Cubmaster and Den Leader for Pack 204, Campmaster at Seven Mountains Scout Camp, and on several training staffs.   His passion for hiking has benefited Scouts on several outings including serving as a Juniata Valley Council Philmont Contingent Leader. He has received the District Award of Merit from the Oneida District.

Aside from Scouting, Mr. Crownover has been an active member of Mill Creek Lions Club, serving as a board member and the Club President.

Randy is a Field Service Supervisor for Containment Solutions – where he has worked thirty-nine years.

Randy and his wife Sheryl have three children – Jason, Yvonne, and Bobbi and reside in Mill Creek.

For outstanding service to the community and youth, the Juniata Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America is proud to present the Silver Beaver Award to Randy Crownover.


A dedicated wife, mother, volunteer whose commitment to young people and her community with a warm, friendly and sincere smile are words that best describe Merrie Margaret Whitehill.  Merrie Margaret has been associated with the Juniata Valley Council and the Scouting program for more than 21 years. 

Mrs. Whitehill currently serves on the Nittany Mountain District as a member of the commissioner staff and Activities Chair. She has also served and assisted in numerous positions at the Pack, Troop, Crew, District and Council level including Tiger Cub Coach, Den Leader, Assistant Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, District Committee, Unit Commissioner, Assistant District Commissioner, and Merit Badge Counselor. She has served on several district, council, and area events and training courses. She has served on the staff for the National Scout and World Jamborees. 

Outside of Scouting Merrie Margaret’s passion for service to others includes New Hope United Methodist Church, Susquehanna Conference of the United Methodist Church, American Cancer Society, and 4-H, Quaker Society of Friends, Centre County United Way Day of Caring, Fourth Fest, Marine Corps League, Bellefonte Area School District and more. 

Merrie Margaret is a homemaker. She and her husband CE have two adult sons – Nicolas and Jameson.  

For outstanding service to the community and youth, the Juniata Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America is proud to present the Silver Beaver Award to Merrie Margaret Whitehill.
