"100 for 100" Celebrates Scouing's Past & Scouting's Future | | | | Front of patch features James E. West & Lord Baden Powell | Back of Patch features Dr Robert Flipse & Dr David Maneval | On February 8, 2010, the Boy Scouts of America reached an incredible milestone – its 100th anniversary of providing lifetime values to young men and women across this great nation. In celebration of this great honor, the Juniata Valley Council is offering you the opportunity to preserve the next 100 years right here in our community by raising over $100,000 for our Endowment Fund as we start our 100th year. Gifts of cash or marketable securities to the Council’s Endowment Fund is one of the best ways to ensure that this Council can continue to offer the outstanding programs it now has and also grow to meet the needs of the youth of tomorrow. The Juniata Valley Council Endowment Committee would like to share with you the opportunity to join the James E. West Fellowship with a gift of $1,000 or higher in cash or marketable securities to the Council’s Endowment Fund. Through the Boy Scouts of America National Council, our funds are invested through Fidelity Investments and overseen locally by our Council Investment Committee. Over the past year, we experienced a 10% return on our investments. Interest from the Endowment Fund accounts for 1.5% of our annual operating budget. As a new James E. West Fellow, you will receive a handsome framed certificate, pin, knot, and to celebrate the 100th anniversary, a specially designed - limited edition (100) 2-sided “100 for 100” patch. Gifts may also be made in honor of a special accomplishment such as attaining Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver, retirement, or in memory of a special individual. Only 100 of this patch will be produced. Gifts must be received by December 31, 2010 to qualify. Thank you in advance for your consideration of preserving Scouting’s future for another 100 years.
